About Michael Blewitt Cutting Horses
Native to the Snowy Mountain Region of New South Wales, Australia, Michael Blewitt saw his first cutting horse at the age of 17 and knew that cutting would be his future. He moved to America in 1978 to work for Larry Reader in Stephenville, TX.
In 1997, Michael and his family decided it was time to establish Michael Blewitt Cutting Horses. After leasing a couple of facilities, they made the decision in 2005 to build their own training facility near Hartsville, SC. Then in 2013, they decided to move back to Texas. Now, they are located in Groveton on Jeanette's family farm.
Cutting has been a family affair for the Blewitt family. His wife, Jeanette, finished in the top 15 in the $15,000 Novice Horse Non-Pro World Standings in 2011, and his son, Matthew, was inducted in the NYCHA Hall of Fame in 2008.
Over the years, Michael has started and finished numerous cutting horses and helped many riders achieve victory in the cutting arena. Over the years, he has made multiple aged-event finals, and has finished in the top 15 in the NCHA world standings. He has also helped many of his customers make the finals in their classes at aged events.
